$700 Raised for TORC at North of Nightfall Screening
On a crazy humid rainy Tuesday July 31st, Misfit Mountain hosted Red Bull's "North of Nightfall" movie. The local mountain bike community descended upon The Varsity Theater in Chapel Hill, NC to witness biking legends Cam Zink, Darren Berrecloth, Carson Storch, and Tom Van Steenbergen "send it" at the North Pole. Catch the trailer here.
The entire net proceeds from the sold-out show went to Triangle Off-Road Cyclists (TORC), who hosted a simultaneous showing in Cary, NC. The Chapel Hill screening netted $700 for TORC, who help build, maintain, and advocate for our local trails.
Aside from an entertaining movie that showcased ridiculous riding, a history lesson or two, and a few points on conservation, the 100+ crowd enjoyed themselves with freebies, a raffle, and a one-of-a-kind "red carpet" experience. The "Stankface Standup" offered moviegoers the chance to catch big air.
We were thrilled to have sponsors donate over $1,000 in swag, which resulted in both a first-come-first-serve table of very serious goodies, as well as a raffle before before the show. Those sponsors, who deserve a standing ovation, include Great Outdoor Provision Company, Performance Bicycle, and Townsend Bertram & Company. TB&C and Red Bull both brought out their goodies to the screening, helping people look great and and get jacked up before the show.
And in case you missed it or need a second helping, here is the rolling slideshow that ran before the movie, highlighting local Misfit Mountainerds and sponsors, as well as the official trailer for "M is for Mountain".
Thanks, everyone, who came out on a rainy night.
