Mountain Biking in Wilson Creek, NC

When mountain bikers head to the mountains of North Carolina to hit Pisgah National Forest, they typically end up in Brevard. But there’s a not-so-secret secret that there is killer riding in the Wilson Creek area of Pisgah National Forest, north of Morganton.

These trails are difficult to find, hard to get to, and even harder to navigate your way up and down the mountain. But if you’ve got the right person/friend/sucker to guide you down the right path (literally), these trails are absolutely fantastic in the most rugged / gnarly sense of the word of fantastic.

In the past couple of years, there has also been some excellent trail rehabilitation done in order to keep the trails open.

If you’re looking for a taste of what these trails are made of, here are three mostly entertaining videos to give you that taste.

We kick things off with “24 Hour MTB” in which we tackle three big trails in the span of 24 hours, including Rocky Knob Park in Boone, 21 Jumps & Schoolhouse, with a finisher of Green Town and Beehive.

Next, let’s turn to “Cranktasia”, which is mostly riding these trails in a torrential downpour, and set to the tune of Disney’s Fantasia. We tackle trails like Raspberry, Green Town, Beehive, Schoolhouse, and 21 Jumps.
